Super Easy Window Cleaning Solution
First on the list is a good basic window cleaning solution that gets the job done well. All the ones we have seen have 2 top ingredients; white vinegar and a good dish detergent. We buy white vinegar in bulk at Costco, think giant size and one of the ecologically friendly dish detergents in bulk form Costco also.
Got to share that one of my favs is Mrs. Meyers Lavender dish detergent or Methods almond dish detergent, both leave your room with a wonderful aroma after your window cleaning job is finished. Mix one cup of vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon dishwashing liquid to one gallon of water and presto, great bulk window cleaning solution!
Dirty Window Tracks Can Cause Problems
Dirty window tracks are more than annoying they can cause problems with windows closing properly. With patio door sliders, dirty window tracks can wear out the rollers that allow your patio door to slide effortlessly. But window tracks can be such a pain to clean! Get into the hard to reach places with a sponge brush or or cheap paint brush dipped into a solution of Simple Green. A great way to have clean window tracks again and add years to your windows performance.
For extremely grimy windows, and we have all been there once and awhile, there is nothing like baking soda and vinegar to get the gunk off window tracks. Mix baking soda and vinegar in a 3:1 ratio and let it sit to do it’s magic for 5-10 minutes and the your grimy mess just wipes off with ease.
Best Days for Window Cleaning–Thin Foggy Days
Best days or cleaning windows are overcast or foggy days. Sunny days and heat tend to dry solutions to quickly which leads to streaks on your windows. You also can see spots and soil better without the sun glaring in on a window. Plus window cleaning can be an aerobic exercise, so much easier to do on a milder weather day. And when the sun comes out again you’ll have beautiful, spotless windows to see through and let the sun into your home.
Windows That Are Hard to Reach
Two story homes or view windows can present a problem unless you want to scale a ladder to clean them. So how do you get to the top windows without going outside and climbing a ladder? Or if you have upper transom windows in your home, how do you reach cleaning those without lugging a ladder into your house? This tip really works.
